Is there a God?

If there is one thing that all people groups across the face of this world and throughout history have in common it is belief in a God. Even today it is estimated that 90% of Americans believe that there is a God and 82% of Europeans believe in some kind of a higher power. Why is this? The Bible says that the evidence for a God is all around us, and the concept of a God is built into our minds, but many choose to suppress this knowledge.

Romans 1:18-20 says:

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse.

However there are still a significant number of people who deny the existence of a God and even those who do believe in a God disagree as to how many Gods there are, the character of God and the level of interest he has in our lives. It is these issues that we will look at in the following pages.
