Testimonies"He did it for me, He can do it for you"
I am Andy Acamon and this is my true life story of how God entered and changed my life. Just 20 years ago people knew me as a tough and violent person. You may not have been as bad as I was, but you need Jesus Christ, and He could change your life, too!
I was born in Oulton Broad near Lowestoft, England. I come from a family of five children, having two brothers and two sisters, with a Spanish father and an English mother. I had very little discipline and soon started getting into trouble with the police. When I was about fourteen I was put in a Remand Home for riding motor bikes under age; and then at fifteen I was in court for the same offense and received a sentence of up to three years in Kerisson Approved School (near Eye, Suffolk). I was bullied and pushed around, but learned to look after myself and became known as a fighter. After nineteen months I was released, but I was soon back in court for assault and got three months in a Detention Centre. I came out a hardened man and carried on my life of crime. I thought nothing of lying, cheating and stealing: anything for my own gain.
In 1968 I married my wife Janet and we had a son. My wife wanted him christened, but I would not go to church for any reason. I became a bouncer at a seedy nightclub in town and then the local tattoo artist. My wife had always wanted another child, but seventeen years went by before we had a baby daughter. Again, Janet wanted to have her christened, and this led to several arguments, but in the end I agreed. At the time I was having a speed boat built, and when I went over to the boat yard the men who worked there had to shut the doors so the women could not hear my filthy language. One day I was talking about my wife wanting the baby christened when one of the men at the boatyard asked me to go along to his church. He told me that they did dedications instead of christenings.
Well, we went along one Sunday morning and continued to attend each week. By the time my daughter was dedicated to the Lord on her first birthday, the Lord had started to work in my heart. As the gospel was preached I gradually realised that God had sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for my sins and that I had to ask Him to forgive me and come into my life. One Sunday afternoon in November 1986 I cried out to the Lord Jesus for mercy and asked Him to save me. From then on my life changed. I found that I could not swear or do any of the things I had been doing. A few weeks later I stopped tattooing because I knew this was not what He wanted me to do.
What has changed?
I agreed with God that I am a sinner. I accepted that Jesus' death on the cross was the only way I could get those sins removed. He did that and gave me a new life, eternal life that will last forever. I did not become religious but found a person, God's Son, who loved me and wanted me to be His. He has promised never to let me go! Even if I let him down I am safe in His hands.
The Bible says; If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new.
(2 Corinthians 5 v 17)
Now I live each day for my Lord and Saviour, who suffered and died for me so that I could have my sins forgiven and receive eternal life. In John ch 14 v 3 Jesus says And if I go and prepare a place for you I will come again and receive you unto myself: that where I am, there you may be also.
